| Credit unions are like no other financial institution. Unlike banks, credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives whose primary goal is to serve their members. Credit unions started from humble beginnings, but today have proven themselves to be a viable alternative in the financial services marketplace. While they have grown, credit unions remained focused on their commitment to people helping people.
Credit unions are passionate about providing valuable financial education not only to their members, but also to young Texans through their support of the Texas Credit Union Foundation, the National Endowment For Financial Education program, the Texas Jump$tart Coalition and other efforts.
Texas credit unions are also helping people through such initiatives as the Credit Unions for Kids Children's Miracle Network program, the National Child ID Program and the International Remittance Network, to mention a few.
Through their actions in the community, not-for-profit Credit unions are proving that people really are worth more than money.
